The only way for me to get any sound in-game is to use the Steam menu to start
the launcher.

Starting MassEffect2.exe or MassEffectLauncher.exe manually (with or without
Steam running) results in only getting sound during the Bioware & EA logo
videos and no sound at all in the game.

Wine 1.5.0, and no VD.
