I retested this bug and found that the software vertex blending patch in bug
#6955 fixes the reported graphical issue in the menu. With a patched Wine I can
start a new game or the tutorial, but the game is very unstable: it always
crashes after a few minutes.

Tested on a Nvidia gfx card with the binary drivers installed
Wine 1.5.16
