I've done some testing now with NVidia driver 310.14 and WoW in OpenGL mode. I
get slightly more of a framerate boost from setting 
__GL_THREADED_OPTIMIZATIONS environment variable to "1" than from the rgl
patch. Also, no crashes in a couple hours. I'd say that should be the right
solution.

The effects are only really visible in heavily graphical environments, such as
in a capital city with a lot of players in the line of sight (such as looking a
the AH in Stormwind). Basically I get 19 fps with plain wine, 26 fps with rgl
and 31 fps with the threaded optimisations (averaged, but numbers are very
stable).

>From previous tests, this is also very representative of the performance in a
raid boss combat environment, but have not tested the threaded optimisations in
a raid, yet.
