Hi,
the "join game" is at the point when the game fails under Wine (if I good
understood Your question).
The same situation is the "create game" - the game fails under Wine at the
point when I have selected options and pressed "Create game".
I.e., all things are pointing to this: The game crashes under Wine at the time
when the game wants send the broadcast packet. And the broadcast packet should
be really sent into network.

Some small additional note:
Maybe better term is: the game "freezes", not crashes.
I.e., game goes into neverending loop: It displays Windows dialog window with
error message and waits. But when I click on the OK button, the message window
is displayed again, because game tries to send new broadcast packet etc., and
this loop will never finish...
