I can also confirm this for Deponia (german retail version).

wine version 1.4.1

The log of Deponia is acutally giving a hint, maybe this can help:

.wine/drive_c/users/user_name/Lokale Einstellungen/Anwendungsdaten/Daedalic
Entertainment/Deponia/messages.log

The bookmarks seem to also work for me, I guess this is just because they are
not trying to create a thumbnail.
