I'm mainly jumping there because the bug affected the raw3 patch, which is what
most of them are using - most people are either manually patching with raw3 or
using PlayOn(Linux|Mac) (which downloads wine with the raw3 patch) - which, in
my experience, has the same behavior.

So either no one's mentioning it, there's something different about our setup,
or most users just don't rely on mouselook that often.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if mouselook isn't used by most people.  If I
weren't in the minority, more games would have mouselook as a toggle instead of
a held button.  I've seen requests for ANet to make mouselook a setting you can
turn on in the settings, so that the mouselook process is reversed - right
click takes you out of mouselook instead of putting you in it.  The amount of
people opposed to the idea was ... frightening.  I don't know how people can
play MMOs without constantly using mouselook.
