I'll try explaining what the patch in #41 is and what it is not.

If you apply the patch the result is that it does not really behave as Windows
implementation does. I tried to do everything "the right way" but apparently
windows implementation is not doing it "the right way" I assumed. Basically,
windows implementation fails one of tests I used to demonstrate why the patch
is needed in its current form.

On the other hand the patch simply works so if you need it just for yourself,
you can use it (and it's tested and should not break anything).
