FYI:
The battle.net desktop client can also be tested in the Diablo 3 Public Test
Realm (PTR) now. This is no closed beta, but you need a Diablo 3 license.

I couldn't find the patch submitted to to the wine-patches ML, but I found a
review of the patch here:

It would be nice if somebody could check this review,
write an updated patch and submit it to the mailing list.
There is a working patch for half a year now, but still nothing submitted.
