No need to dig deeper, the bug is invalid since it was opened.

I just tested it in Windows 95 and 98, result: does not work. Same type
mismatch error.

I looked for other versions of the game but all sites distribute the same file.
My guess is that it worked inside VB5 (debug) and the author didn't care to
test after compiling.
