Your summary says the problem is with "big" books, but your description says it
crashes when you start Kindle for PC. Which is it? 

If it is only "big" books, how "big" does a book have to be to trigger this
problem? Is there a free one that demonstrates the problem that I can download
to test? I'm not seeing any  crashes on my system, but I also don't have any
books that I would consider especially "big." 

As for the fonts, if this really only happens with "big" books, that's unlikely
to be the problem, but you can test it by installing winetricks corefonts. You
can also try installing Kindle for PC to a 32 bit wineprefix.
