With older Wine releases, the performance was even worse...

With modern hardware it is playable - you'll notice the slowness only, if you
recently played on Windows (even on a Pentium III...). Not playing on Windows
at all anymore, I've got used to it. But it still would be nice, if it would
get faster.

Nonetheless, it is more important to make S3 work again, as Wine 1.5.20 broke
it...
