Let me add some further data from the World of Warcraft timedemo benchmark with
wine-1.5.20:

vanilla                        42.0 fps
__GL_THREADED_OPTIMIZATIONS=1  49.3 fps
__GL_THREADED_OPTIMIZATIONS=1  
+ glBufferSubDataARB patch     56.7 fps

So in total a healthy 30% improvement. So from my end user opinion (completely
irrelevant, I know :-)), Stefans patch should go in, at least optional. The
Crysis memory fix (or more like a hack, as I understand it) didn't make a
difference.
