This bug is a effectively a meta-bug for several different bugs.

1) Characters freeze and make game unplayable in cutscenes - This is bug 31586
- I can confirm what the above poster said. Characters in the game still do not
run even if you manage to get the game is running. The character will spawn and
say and do nothing, as the game waits for the animation to stop and it never
does - causing a stall. You cannot move. It does not freeze as the fluid and
animation appears to be moving even though you can do nothing and it never
completes.

2) Demo Installer fails to render correctly is bug 25786
- Someone should test this on wine 1.6-rc4; I am unable to right now.

3) Retail Installer does not work is a reference to bug 19051 -
It is not possible to install the retail in my estimation. You can copy it from
a Windows install and it will run however.

4) Black screen of death bug after intro appears to have been fixed for me. It
was bug 25787 and affected all versions.
