Marking as a duplicate of bug 25857. From

It's probably related to the effects framework, specifically the D3D state
updates aren't processed at all right now. The typical hint for it from the log
is:

fixme:d3dx:ID3DXEffectImpl_BeginPass No states applied, yet!
