I can't reproduce this; winetricks vb6run installs fine here in a clean
wineprefix.

Messages from winetricks about an installed file not being found usually come
from having an unclean wineprefix and/or using an outdated copy of winetricks.
Try a clean wineprefix with current winetricks.
