I'm running KDE so I don't use IBus by default. However I just tried turning
off the auto repeat and bingo! No more sticky keys, and as bonus the caps lock
run toggle works at last!

Thanks for the info, this is a totally viable solution for me, I'll figure a
way to quickly switch this config, possibly toggling it when launching the
game.
