We already do that for, e.g., d3dx9, and yet there are plenty of bug reports
from user about that component.

Plenty of developers and users file bug for purist reasons, or when they have a
problem, even if easily worked around. While this may be a concern in theory, I
don't think that it would actually be a problem for us from what I've seen.
