This seems to still persist with 1.7.1:

Resolution change not successful -- perhaps display has changed?


Just tried running Warcraft 3, and it borks weirdly. It supposedly attempts to
change the resolution to 1024x768, but instead it turns it into a large desktop
where the resolution is "zoomed in" (if that makes any sense).

OpenSuSE 12.3, 32-bit
Packages from update repo
Nvidia Blob 325.08, single screen (1920x1080 60hz capable- usual res)
Vanilla kernel from update repos (kernel-desktop in particular)
