The problem is still present in Wine 1.7.24 but only with the Nvidia binary
drivers, currently installed 331.89.
The game doesn't crash with the open source nouveau driver. At the point in the
game where the crash occurs with Nvidia, some light-blue mist is gathering in
the air.
Maybe this special effect causes the crash in the game with the binary drivers.
At the same time with nouveau these messages appear in the terminal:
