Irfanview 4.38 and wine-1.7.24 doesn't crash.

1.2, however, does crash with an X error:
X Error of failed request:  BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)
  Major opcode of failed request:  53 (X_CreatePixmap)
  Serial number of failed request:  21748
  Current serial number in output stream:  21863
