works fine in 1.5.5, with the observation that alt-tab out of the game and back
in it loses the proper mouse grab - but if you alt-tab out a second time and
back in, the mouse grab is correct

in 1.7.11 the mouse grab is broken, and forcing mouse grab makes the menus
unusable
