I got the point.

It was still guesswork in the end since the relay log only showed an outgoing
'WSAStartup' call to builtin.
The association to 'InternetOpenW' was a safe bet since it's the _only_
'wininet' API call from the application visible in the log file/range, made
without any overrides.

So what now ... this bug became basically impossible to solve then ("things
cannot be unseen").

I'd resolve it 'WONTFIX' or 'INVALID' since the vendor made a stupid mistake in
the client/launcher code that just works by chance on Windows as previously
explained.
