I am unable to get terminal output for running the game itself. It only runs
for me when launched by Steam. When launched through Steam I don't see any
terminal output by the exe.

When I launch the game standalone I get an error: "Access violation at address
0B98D248 in module 'Steam_GM.dll'. Read of address 00000000".

A demo is available at http://www.indiedb.com/games/risk-of-rain but it's an
older version that runs even slower than the full game so I'm unable to play
for long enough to reproduce the crash in the demo. (bug 35633)

In the demo, the monster log is unavailable so I don't know of an easy way to
reproduce the error.
