Just to be clear, the original bug behavior was that no resolutions were
displayed at all.

If I understand correctly from your last post, the problem with resolution
change not working is also on Windows (so not a wine bug), however if windows
reports more resolutions than Wine there still may be something going wrong on
the Wine side.
Just check with xrandr that the resolutions are even available on Linux.

BTW I don't have the SoaSE media at hand to test but the demo here works fine,
i.e. I can see the resolutions reported by xrandr (minus low resolutions like
800x600 which are probably too small) and I can successfully change it.

We should probably close this bug and move the workaround HOWTO into AppDB.
