[Bug 35373] Overlay fading in and out takes a lot of time

Using:
- Wine 1.6.2, from official Debian repository
- Debian Jessie (testing) 64 bits
- emulator and the ROM: identical to the links of the comment #2 

Now the program stucks instead of displaying the overlay. It uses fully a core
of my CPU, and nothing more happens during hours.
