The "__wine_kernel_init boot event wait timed out" message should not happen
with a new WINEPREFIX.
Try to start a Wine builtin ('notepad', 'winecfg') with a new WINEPREFIX and
check if it shows the same error message.
You might have a broken Wine package and/or are missing critical components.
What Linux distro is this (release/version)?
Did you build Wine on your own?
