I have the same issue (i.e., cursor hangs but mouse is working, albeit
invisibly).

My configuration:
- Hardware: Nvidia GT 640 with two monitors
- OS: Ubuntu 14.04 amd64
- Nvidia proprietary driver (version 331.38)
- Wine 1.7.15
