winex11: Don't pump messages in ChangeDisplaySettings (v3)

Here's an updated version of my patch, addressing one of Alexandre's concerns.
Can you test it? I had the game crash once when I tested it. I suspect it
crashed because I forgot to run make, but I want to be sure it works for you as
well before I send it.
