I have noticed too that changing those settings helps, but it's hard to find
good quide how values are calculated. 

I have noticed that if you have 2 sources of audio for example youtube and dvd
playback. The other can be muted. Then audio is crystal clear, but if you have
only 1 audio source I get crackling.
