Patch sequence imlementing callback wrapper approach

Here's a 3-patch sequence update for my previous attempt. I believe I addressed
all of Sebastian's comments. None of the callbacks looked "small" enough to
bother executing them in the main thread, so all callbacks continue to get
wrapped. Please give it a test and let me know if things are not working as
before.

Rosanne, I am able to reproduce the issue with those videos in Powerpoint. I
haven't looked into it yet, but I will before submitting.
