--- Comment #24 from Sebastian Lackner <sebastian at fds-team.de> ---
I have heard about it a long time ago, but it isn't really the first thing
which comes to my mind when I see the xrandr 1.0 FIXME in one of the logs.
Having it somewhere mentioned in (closed) bug reports from 2007 doesn't really
help users which encounter this problem, thats why I documented everything here
again.

You are right that its difficult to tell if the initial problem is really
exactly the same issue, but instead of opening various new bug reports I will
just assume that it is identical or at least similar. The description "This
prevents most applications from even running at all" also matches what Adam
reported when he encountered this problem after commit
8e9e4a657f29ff018c6296ced1f115ca8731e5e6.

Other projects like MythTV seem to include a workaround to query the real
refresh using Nvidia extensions. I know that this is a bit ugly, but might be
the easiest solution to ensure that wine works out of the box for such setups:
https://code.mythtv.org/doxygen/util-nvctrl_8cpp_source.html#l00082

The alternative might be to show at least a winediag message, mentioning that
DynamicTwinView is enabled, and that this can cause problems for various games.
Just checking if all rates are increasing numbers starting from 50 should be
sufficient.
