This issue was not completely resolved but ameliorated in a recent wine verion.
AFAIK 12.0 and 12.5 start running correctly after a single crash.

I no longer test version 12.0 or 12.5 and have moved on to 13.0. 

13.0 has a different startup routine. Right now it does not load properly due
to either a regression or some sort of mistake I have made. But when it did
load and run properly it still crashed once. 

I have bugs filed against 13.0 that need to be resolved before I can file a new
bug about this issue.

So this bug is partly fixed and partly will be superceded by a bug against 13.0
that I haven't filed yet. 

My suggestion? Mark it as fixed.
