New information:

Now this is truly revolting.

Reverting to 1.7.37: no symptom change
Reverting to 1.7.32: no symptom change

Creating a new Wine Prefix (WINEPREFIX=~/.wine.smartsuite) and reinstalling
Smart Suite: no symptom change.

Going into 1.7.32's tar ball and running "make uninstall" (plus manually
removing anything that said it could not because the directories were no
empty), then reinstalling (# ./configure --disable-win64; make depend; make;
make install) 1.7.37: no symptom change in the old prefix.

But, in the new prefix, now it is working again.  AAAAAAHHHHHHH !!!!

And comparing the two prefixes, it transpires that 
  --> file (pull down)
    --> Word Pro Preferences
       --> Enable (tab at top right)
         --> "Multiple Cell Paste"

Was "off" on the old Wine Prefix.   Ha Ha funny as I renamed the new prefix's
"lotus" directory and copied my entire "lotus" directory over from my old wine
prefix.  Doesn't explain why this setting would be bad creating a new prefix
before doing and wine uninstall and good afterwards.  And I didn't recreate the
new prefix after reinstall Wine 1.7.37.   Double AAAAAHHHHH!!!

Marking as INVALID.

Sorry I wasted you guys time.  (I wasted a lot of mine too!)
