Is this the Steam version or some 'custom build'?
It won't run without Steam...

When was this 'update 32' released? I have Portal 2 on Steam, it was last
updated somewhere in December 2014. The game starts properly when launching
from Steam (it indeed crashes if I start directly with portal2.exe)

To get a backtrace you need to start the game with '-nominidumps -nobreakpad
-noassert -nocrashdialog' command line options.
