I changed my graphics driver from `nouveau` to `nvidia`, then changed back.
Upon starting the game, I no longer get the "X error of failed request". The
game actually starts - resolution changes, an instance of the game appears in
GNOME's "alt-tab" list. However, I'm still looking at my GNOME desktop - the
game doesn't actually appear.

At any rate, I'm no longer dealing with this bug, and I can't even reproduce it
myself. It exists, but it's a little sneaky.

NOTE: I mentioned in the bug description that I tested with one monitor. I
actually have three, but I just went into my display settings and disabled
everything except the one. Perhaps that had something to do with it?
