Well, that's a good start.  Maybe that will show me enough to understand what's
going on.  If not, we can try something else.

I don't expect it to make a difference, but maybe I'm wrong.  Try it with and
without to see if you notice a difference.  (The most obvious difference is if
you get "IOHIDDeviceGetValue" lines with one but not the other.)
