[Bug 39324] ArcSoft PhotoImpression 6.0 crashes while starting

Sounded like a good idea, but now the new version won't install. I've
eliminated every trace of the "old" wine 1.6 I could find, downloaded wine
1.7.15 from this site, tried running "wineinstall" in the terminal, and about a
second later the terminal vanishes. At every other attempt the system tells me
wine 1.7.15 cannot be found.
I'm at a loss...what can I do? Install wine 1.6 (which can be done with no
further ado) and try somehow to upgrade?
