Since you tried wine 1.9.17 and the problem is still present this is probably
bug 41085.

In order to ensure that you have to reinstall the game in plain wine instead of
using PlayOnLinux and attach the log when running the game in console, read
more at http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log
