Hi Andrew, 

You may want to talk to the Macports folks as, from what I understand after a
quick glance at their site, they seem to use a pre-packaged version of Wine.

I think Macports may qualify as a third-party application and the Wiki
explicitly states: 

" It is important to understand that although these third party applications
may make Wine more usable, they are not supported by the Wine project."
