The oldest version of 3ds Max available for download from Autodesk is 2013;
their policy is to only keep the last 3 years available. So it will take
someone who already has the 2009 version to test this. 

Note that bug 33380 suggests that this bug may have been fixed, as that bug
reporter was apparently able to at least start 3ds Max 2009.
