The download has someway changed. But I can't replicate the issue. Though I had
dotnet45 preinstalled and win7 mode. Changed the mode into xp and retested. 

No hang (see title) and the water animatio is really smooth...

wine 1.9.24.

I am suggesting closing this. Based on comments 16,17 and 18.
