With wine-staging I got quite interesting result. When you are at the page
where to choose location you get a black screen, but if you alt+tab you can see
there is another screen drawn that has the content you supposed to see. 

I don't know why is it like that, but there are few games with similar
behaviour. For example bug 38061.
