Congratulations Susan. Another win. 

Could you summarise, starting from zero: clean .wine and clarify what packages
are or not installed at start? 

I've wasted all of yesterday  trying to reinstall version 9, which I did have
nicely installed in bilingual version years ago. I gave up after far too much
time wasted reinventing the magic incantations needed to make anything work,
and which change every time wine gets a version bump.

I came back to give it fresh look after a few years away and sadly it does not
seen that we have moved forwards. Turning clockwise with your eyes closed and
throwing salt over the left shoulder still seems to be one of the key parts of
the installation method. 

If you can detail something that works here, I'll have a last try at
resurrecting version 9 pro, before I finally give up on WINE definitively.
