I no longer get the crash in Wine 1.9.12. I was able to complete the first
mission (break out of prison) without issue, whereas previously it would crash
immediately after New Game or Continue was selected from the main menu. I think
this bug can be closed.

Regarding performance, I get basically the same performance with Wine as I do
the native GNU/Linux builds - which is to say not great (playable but
frustrating), but seemingly not Wine's fault.
