Most distros have that exact dependency as an optional dependency for Wine. 

Case in point, Arch lists libpng as an optional dependency for Wine:
https://www.archlinux.org/packages/multilib/x86_64/lib32-libpng/

So it's mostly dependent on what distro you use :)
