I just tested 1.7.8 with the DirectDraw HAL and (what I assume is) the Intel
945G (because there's a bug in 1.7.8 that causes both to be labelled DirectDraw
HAL).

They each caused 2 MAVs in succession. Just like before, you are able to get
through the menu. The MAVs happen AFTER you've selected a new game, right as
the loading screen finishes when you should enter the game.
