It appears that at least one other may be experiencing an unwarranted slowdown
in Borderlands as well. See the discussion page for the latest Steam release:

I can also confirm that I get about a 1000+ of these on Wine 1.9.4 after
playing an hour or so:

fixme:d3d:wined3d_occlusion_query_ops_get_data 0x2a96edd8 Wrong thread,
returning 1.

with different numbers and letters after the "0x.."

I do not know whether I am experiencing a slowdown or not, because my graphics
hardware is not the greatest (Intel HD 3000). However, I experience around 20
fps
