While AfterEffects CS6 appears to have 32-bit components, a 64-bit OS is
required to run it. See
https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs6-32bit.html , where it states that 

"With the release of Production Premium CS5 in 2010, Adobe Premiere Pro and
After Effects require a 64-bit Operating System (OS)."
