For me the same situation, in 386 bootle and x64 bootle:

OS: Ubuntu 16.04 LTS 64bits 
Version wine 1.9.23
Game: Tomb Raider (VI) The Angel of Darkness STEAM

I force to install sudo apt-get install gstreamer1.0-plugins-bad:i386 and the
result is the same.

No videos, no sound videos, all black.

Select VMR9 in settings game:
fixme:quartz:VMR9SurfaceAllocatorNotify_AdviseSurfaceAllocator
(0x2dce308/0x2dce0f8)->(...) stub
fixme:quartz:VMR9SurfaceAllocatorNotify_SetD3DDevice
(0x2dce308/0x2dce0f8)->(...) semi-stub
err:quartz:GetClassMediaFile Media class not found

Select Overlay video dafault settings game:
