Copy-pasta from a private email:

echo 'export PATH="${PATH}:/opt/wine-staging/bin"' >> "${HOME}/.bashrc"

Remove a wine (executable) symlink from /usr/bin/ if you have created one
- as that will confuse matters (since wine is looking for libraries/fonts, etc.
relative to the main binary location).
